even after;

Even After ;

a thin trickle of oil
down over
slow, uneven
you’re still covered
even after the rain

and you can’t connect
impulse to reason
doubt to certainty
mind finds rest
in sweet spots between
Out-of-Control
and Serenity

but that’s okay
because this isn’t the end;
your story may be quiet now,
but you just wait
you’ll be heard
even after the rain

has washed away your voice
it cracks. i can see the bones
that are stuck in your throat
no words will ever sound as
beautiful as your giving in

to Peace. he waits for you
carrying your thoughts
on his shoulders
your words are on the tip
of his tongue and he knows

the creak of the floorboards
beneath you, don’t be scared
go ease into your safe place on the ground
your sore knees and locked ankles
are no sacrifice, they were enough
a long time ago when

you danced for pain
this isn’t the end;
your story may ring loud enough
to keep you hiding
but soon you’ll be friends
with a strength that’s been fortified
by fractures sealed in

a thin trickle of oil
down over,
slow, uneven
you’re still covered
even after the rain.
